Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) provides nourishment and strength to organs like pancreas, heart, testes, ovaries, brain, reproductive organs, and lungs. Generally, it is ayurvedic supplement for these organs. However, nowadays, it becomes famous for diabetes due to its potent anti-hyperglycemic effect. It lowers blood glucose level without causing hypoglycaemia.

Diabetes Mellitus

Studies have shown that Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) has significant anti-diabetic and anti- hyperglycemic properties, so it is beneficial for diabetes mellitus type 1 and diabetes mellitus type 2. However, it does not lead to low blood glucose level (hypoglycemia) like modern anti-diabetic drugs.

In diabetes, the best adjuvant for Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) is Haldi (Turmeric) decoction. It can also be taken with Amalaki and Haldi mixture, known as Nishamalaki churna or Nishamalaki tablets.

Diabetic Neuropathy

Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) due to Raupya (Rajat) Bhasma and other ingredients is beneficial in dealing with diabetic neuropathy. However, diabetic neuropathy requires long-term administration of medicines, so Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) cannot be used more than 4 weeks due to metallic formulation.

A short course with Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) can be given for 4 weeks. In such cases, it should be given with Ashtavargam Kashayam, or Asanadi Kashayam. After 4 weeks, Kashayam and other anti-diabetic medicines should be continued.

If patient has burning sensation in his feet, then Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) should be given with Guluchyadi Kashayam, or Balaguluchyadi Kashayam and Nimbadi Kashayam. Giloy Satva, Kaishore Guggulu, Amritadi Guggulu are also beneficial.

Diabetic Carbuncles

Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) is also helpful in diabetic carbuncles. In this case, it is used for restoring weakness and controlling high blood glucose levels. Raupya (Rajat) Bhasma in it also speeds up the recovery process and dls with inflammation, redness, and infections. However, Tapyadi Loh is a drug of choice for diabetic carbuncles, but Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) indirectly helps in this condition. Other beneficial remedies are Daruhaldi (Berberis Aristata), Mahatiktam Kashayam, and Nimbadi Kashayam.

Weight Gain & Physical Strength

In general, Vasant Kusumakar Ras (Swarna Moti Yukta) is not used for gaining weight. It is only recommendable when weight loss occurs unintentionally due to diabetes. It provides strength to the body and muscles and it does not increase fatness in the body. For increasing physical strength, it should be used along with Ashwagandha powder in VATA cases and with Shatavari and Yashtimadhu (Mulethi) in PITTA cases. The best adjuvant for gaining weight and strength is cow’s milk.
